My name is Jeffrey Hayes, and I’m proud to present you with still life paintings created in the classical tradition. These works are crafted to the highest standard, using time-tested methods and the best materials. 

I came to painting later than most. 

A lengthy education in music led to a more practical career as a computer programmer. For my 30th birthday, I satisfied my curiosity by purchasing an oil painting kit. 

I immediately knew I would paint for the rest of my life.  Eventually, I was fortunate enough to make it my career. 

Artist's Statement

Still life is a quiet art form – it’s right there in the name itself. 

A good still life painting draws the viewer into a calm, centered place, allowing silence to arise while the outside world falls away for a little while. 

If it makes me feel like time has stopped while I’m looking at it, I know it’s a good still life. 

If one of my own paintings gives the viewer that experience, then it has succeeded.
